5 months!

My little boo is 5 months old! We are almost half way there to one year! Not a lot has changed really since my last post. But lets see..

She got baptized! She got baptized in the same Catholic church Andrew and I got married in. Andrew's sister Aimee and her husband Mike are the God Parents. Ill post more on this later

She's still just as happy and giggly as always.

She's droolfest 2013 at all times. We gotta keep a bib on as to not ruin every outfit immediately.

She's growing our of all her clothes.. We are moving into the 3-6 month and 6 month range

We are going to Dallas! Just Layne and I are going in April. So I had to go out and get her some short sleeve onsies. Layne is gonna feel warmth for the first time in her sweet little life. Yay Texas!

She's been sleeping pretty good. Momma has even had a couple nights out on the town after putting her to sleep and daddy stayed home with her. (High five!)

I've been going to a bunch of momma meet ups so she's been meeting lots of babies her age. This is good for momma.

She got her first rash. :/ not good. Not sure what it was but it scared me! It went away after a couple of days. Don't come back!

She's a babble machine.
And a cute one at that.

Weight (measured by me carrying her on the scale.)  16 pounds

Firsts!

Here are some more first that occurred between 4- 5 months. We have had some real good ones this time with videos to boot.

I am finally blogging from my computer so these pictures are actually a normal size.

Here we go:

First: time facing OUT in the baby carrier

We weren't ready for this shot- this is with out the awesome hoodie for the carrier.

Sushi date!  Andrew, Layne and I went for sushi.  Layne slept the majority of the dinner....

Then she woke up- and just hung out! 

First: Layne and Wally McDonald meet at last... they fell in love.  

Our sweet friend Adair was on her way to Florida (From LA) with a lay over in Chicago on the day of a major  snow storm. So she got stuck here!  (in the burbs) And we had an impromptu get together to see her and meet WALLY! (who is one month younger than Layne)

These firsts are real fun!

4 months!

Ill tell you what, we have a full blown baby on our hands. Little Layne is a newborn no more! There is a huge difference between 2 and 4 months. Here are a few things she is doing now...

She is reaching for everything
Putting everything in her mouth
Getting used to routines.
Sleeping up to 12 hours a night (with a couple feedings here and there)
Going to sleep between 8:30-9ish every night
Can fit her whole fist in her mouth
Is a drooling machine.
Rolling over
Getting a little personality
Has a little bottom lip that she knows how to work!
Finally taking a bottle of pumped breast milk after we switched to a wider flow nipple on the bottle.
Is growing out of her 3 month clothes.
Sometimes stops mid feeding to look up at me and smile. It's the best thing ever!
Sooo good at smiling. Such a happy baby.
Officially no more swaddling. Sleeps with a sleep sack- in her own room every night!
Lots and lots of talking. (babbling...)

At her 4 month check up:
She weighed: 14.4oz
Length : 25 inches
This puts her in the 80th percentile for both.
My little breastfed baby is growing up! And she's got the cheeks to prove it.

Firsts!

This has been a big week of firsts for us. On Layne's 3 month birthday we moved her into her own room and I am proud to say she's been sleeping in her crib in her room for a week now!

Although putting her down to sleep has become a bit of a struggle.
We start around 8 ish with a bath if its bath day (every other day) then ill take her into her room and nurse her then attempt to put her down. Most nights she cries then Andrew goes in after a while to try to calm her. Then if that doesn't work ill go in one more time (or more if needed) and nurse her again or change diaper and then she's been falling asleep between 10pm and 11. And wakes up at 6am!!!
That's right, she's sleeping through the night. Hallelujah. At 6 ill wake up change her, feed her, then she falls right back to sleep till 10am. !

Thanks for making it through the boring part. It's exciting for us, cause we get to sleep with the lights off!
Besides the glow of the monitor I stare at all night....

We also stopped swaddling her. She never liked it any way. She has had one hand out in minutes after we got her all tucked in, since she was born.

Another first: she laughs! Gone are the times of the one little giggle. We have full blown laughs over here. She loves getting those arm pits tickled. (Unlike her mommy).

And yesterday... She ROLLED OVER!!! Oh man I got so excited I think I scared her more than the roll. After I cried a bit from excitement, I busted out the iPhone and got it on video for Andrew to see, since he was at work. :(

Don't worry dad, I did it five times and mom caught it on camera!

3 months!

My little Layner birdie is 3 months old!
Every month I'm gonna ask... Where does the time go?!?

This month she:
Slept 7.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep!
She: took the bottle from Andrew a few more times. (Yippie!)
She: laughs and smiles and talks a lot!
She: is sleeping in her crib right now! I am going to see how it goes and hopefully start transitioning her to sleep in her own room at night. Tear!
I started this past week putting her in the crib for naps during the day.
She: has super adorable chunky cheeks that we just can't get enough of.
She: stays awake longer throughout the day.
She: is very aware of her surroundings especially when we take Chai to the dog park.
She: is the best when she wakes up from a nap or in the morning... All smiles and so happy to see us.

I just can't get enough!

Christmas in Texas

We were able to spend Christmas in Texas this year so Layne could meet her Texan family! Needless to say she was a hit. She did great on the plane there and back. I fed her on the way there and she slept the whole time on the way back. It was so great to see everyone in Dallas. And as a surprise for my parents we got all the grand kids together to take photos at JC penny to give to them for Xmas. (Sample pics below). We went to our friend Cortney's house to meet all the kiddos we've been seeing pics of on Facebook for years, it was a nice little get together. Thanks again Cort!
And we spent time with the Thomas' playing monopoly, clue and Apples to Apples. All of which my 12 year old beautiful niece Olivia was a pro!
We spent the night at Auntie Holly's house.
It must go down in the record saying this is the first time I've been to Dallas and not gone to the bars. My how times have changed. Layne did go to her first restaurants though. First one being her fathers Texas favorite: Whataburger! And the second a sit down restaurant good ole Ozonas.

Sarah and I went through this pregnancy together via email since week 8.  She lives in Portland and our babies were born 9 days apart.  So glad to finally meet Ike!  <3

2 months!

I forgot to do my two month post! She'll be 3 months in 2 weeks... We're does the time go?
Probably the best thing that has happened these past few weeks... She laughed!! First baby giggle. I cried I was so excited. She's done it a couple more times since then, I didn't know my heart could grow any bigger.
We went to Texas and back for Xmas. Which was great but I came back with a pretty bad cold which I'm still fighting.

Back to Layne- she can hold her head up she doesn't cry during tummy time. Actually she rarely ever cries. The only time she cries is when she's hungry or needs her diaper changed or has gas. Those are pretty good reasons! So we feel pretty lucky so far with a happy, very smiley baby.
She's still sleeping in our room in the rock n play next to our bed, I'm dreading the move to the crib in her own room. I'm all ears for any advice on how to move her in there. Or any sleep training advice!

These 2 months have flown by and I'm loving every minute of it.
She's still not taking a bottle very well so unless she does ill be right here on this couch till she starts eating solid foods and someone else can feed her.
